Alpha brainwaves represent a state of relaxed mental awareness. Alpha brainwaves are present in deep relaxation and usually when the eyes are closed, when you’re slipping into a daydream or during light meditation. It is the gateway to your subconscious mind and lies at the base of your conscious awareness. Alpha is the first brainwave pattern that can be reached during the meditation practice and is associated with increased creativity, improved the immune system and release of serotonin.
