Alpha is the first brainwave pattern that can be reached during the meditation practice and is associated with increased creativity, improved the immune system and release of serotonin. Having more alpha brainwaves usually indicates more positive, stable and balanced emotions. Gamma brainwaves are associated with increased sensory perception, compassion, happiness, higher mental activity and consolidation of information. People with high gamma activity are naturally happier, calmer and more at peace.
